This
is my take on "Song of the Wind" from
Santana's Caravanseria Album. I started trying
to play along to this back in the seventies and
still work on the subtleties of the solo to this
day. Recorded at The Sports Page.

My
take on Jeff Beck's "Cause We Ended as Lovers".
I can only hope to pull half the emotion out of
my strat as he does. Again,
the backing track is pulled from a free German
site and the solo is me. Couple of little glitches
and pops, and there's no post production, but
not a bad take.

I
pulled out "Guildee", my old acoustic
and recorded this version of Little Martha by
Duane Allman. This
acoustic instrumental is the only Allman Brothers
song written entirely by Duane. He claimed this
came to him in a dream in which Jimi Hendrix
showed him how to play the song using a sink
faucet in a hotel room.
The title is taken from a statue at Rose Hill
Cemetery in Macon, Georgia, where the band would
often jam.
I
first learned this in standard tuning by ear
back in about '74. It wasn't until I started
teaching it several years later that I relearned
it in the correct open E tuning. Sometimes age
brings wisdom.

In
my humble opinion, "Hotel California"
has one of the best crafted guitar solos of
all time. Plus it's really fun to play.
This
backing track (without vocals) has about 4 overdubbed
guitar parts including my solo.

INSTRUMENTAL
PROJECTS
Just a few examples of Play-along-tracks I use
in some of the advanced lessons. I've overdubbed
straight or chorused guitar parts and some improvised
solos. These were one take in the interest of
time.
For anyone that's curious, I'm running my effects
pedals straight into Garage Band on a vintage
Mac via a USB JamLab.
